Cathy is currently living in Nairobi, Kenya, serving with the Church Missionary Society (CMS). Coffee CultureKenya produces some 50,000 tonnes of high quality coffee beans each year. Recently we went to a coffee shop and saw that they had a big coffee making machine. We asked whether they could make a latte. "No problem", was the considered response, "two lattes coming up. Just one question, would you like your lattes black or with milk?"A Kenyan WeddingOne of Paul's students kindly invited us to his wedding via a beautifully printed invitation stating the wedding would begin at 10:00am. Unfortunately, because of last minute bride-price negotiations, requiring extra goats, the bride and groom didn't get to the church until 3:00pm! Fortunately, the minister recognised that the programme was running a little behind time and was able to pare his sermon down to just two hours long! The reception began by 6:00pm. |
